James Franco

Art, News

So…I came across Elle.com and I saw there was an article on James Franco’s 2015 Calendar. I thought it was not free until I read Elle.com’s article: http://www.elle.com/news/culture/james-franco-selfie-calendar?click=hprc. Yes, indeed it is free and let the inner fan girl or guy come out. In the article, there is a link to upload the free calendar and ways to tweet or Instagram a selfie to James himself. You can #hashtag the title of the day from the calendar and make sure you watch James on his YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/JamesFrancoChannel. Enjoy!

P.S. This could be a great holiday gift…

Black Friday + Cyber Monday

Fashion, News

Deals, Deals and more Deals…. The holidays are approaching soon and sales from many stores are selling out fast. Today was interesting because I did go shopping today for Black Friday but did not get that much. Most of the prices in stores were still expensive and that goes to you Urban Outfitters. Yep, still expensive…personally, I think prices will diminish by the time the holidays come and they are much cheaper. However, if you are like me and love to shop…well shopping is always a must.

I noticed from some of the emails I have been receiving from some retail stores, like H&M and Uniqlo; they already started their sales online even before Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It really all depends on the store and how you follow up with the stores. Also, the shoes/accessory store, Aldo has amazing deals on shoes and accessories. I found these cute pair of rubber Beatles inspired shoes for only $25 and it was originally about $55. Yep…pretty good deals online. Hope this helps and if you want to beat the lines I highly recommend just purchasing everything online.

#HouseofDVF: Episode IV

Fashion

Sunday’s episode of House of DVF was catty as usual and most of the women did not get along…#surprise. However, this episode was eventful starting off with the trip to Bergdorfs for a DVF sales event and Diane helped customers choose dresses. The only person who could not do their job or dressed up business appropriately to represent DVF is Abigail. Abigail clearly does not know how to be a brand ambassador for DVF and don’t forget about Jinna as well. She does loves to drink her cocktails during the job and who does that?? Plus, no one cares about your love life sweety. This is probably why both of them are possibly send home by Diane at the ending. However, we still have to wait and see for the newest episode.

The women had a great opportunity to design outfits for the brand and DVF Artistic Director, Michael Herz chose the winners. He chose Brittany, Jinna and Amanda’s sketches. The best part was that before he chose the winner, he puts Kier into her place because she did not design an innovated outfit…#basic. She literally looked like she was about to cry and throw a fit. Oh well and now the women have to be split up into teams to finish creating the winning designs.

Another fight broke out between the women but honestly I am over talking about who’s fighting since once again Brittany and Amanda are girls not adult women. Yet, I am proud of Amanda for apologizing to Brittany for confronting her unprofessionally. Nope, Brittany cannot accept the apology because clearly she is “better than everyone else.” She should have and focused back to work.

It was Brittney’s lucky day though since Diane invited her to dine with her guests at her DVF luncheon. The women had to set up the luncheon that was planned for two days and they did a great job. Brittney did really well too when she dined with Diane and her guests. So who knows, she might win or someone else will.

Now, let’s wait for the latest episode this Sunday!

Meltdown

Videos

Cheers to #NewMusicTuesday and thanks to the beautiful Lorde. She gives The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I Soundtrack a breath of life by curating the soundtrack. The music in the soundtrack is phenomenal and you can listen to it anywhere. One of my favourite songs from the soundtrack is, “Meldown” by Stromae featuring Lorde, Pusha T, Q-Tip and HAIM. It is unique because there is a great variety of amazing artists featured in one song. When I found out Stromae was in the soundtrack I was thrilled! This song can be in runway shows and represents the movie and book well. Thank you Lorde for having an amazing artist like Stromae on the soundtrack!!!

Do not forget to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I in theatres now!

Golden Age

Fashion

Classic movies are one of my favourite things to watch on Turner Classic Movies or on Netflix. I got into classic movies because my dad always watches classic movies on his free time and anything from the 1930s-1970s films always intrigued me. The glamor and fashion were superb during those years. Also, over the summer my sister and I had a classic movie marathon. We watched Sunday in New York, Barefoot in the Park, Sabrina and a few others.

Now, I just finished my second movie of the day on Turner Classic Movies, The Big Sleep with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. These two Hollywood’s Golden Age stars are the epitome of the era with the company of James Dean, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Gregory Peck and many more famous actors/actresses. I highly recommend watching the film and the murder mystery is very suspenseful.

The Hollywood’s Golden Age has shaped cinema, fashion, and art. The glamor of the extravagance of the clothing from musicals showed great detail from costume designers. Also, the fashion showed the timeless beauty of each actor and actress. Glamorous waves and the classic red lip are hairdo’s and makeup artists and fashion designers use today.

So for tomorrow’s makeup inspiration or Thanksgiving, try a red lip and fix your hair with some Hollywood waves!
