This weekend I binged watched Vogue’s 2016 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Series on its YouTube Channel. I loved every minute of it and I thought the process really pushed each designer. This truly shows detail, personality and hard work pays off. Anyone interested in fashion should watch this and learn how valuable it is to nurture new designers today.
I’m so happy for the runners up and the winners! They were all my favorite from the start, but I am not telling you who they are! You must watch first — NO SPOILERS.
Enjoy, the playlist here:
Last week was just a whirlwind and all the news featuring new collaborations is just too hot to handle!
First, let’s start with Eddie Borgo x Tiffany & Co. and it will be a time capsule collection about sculpture Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. It will be coming out Dec. 1 and to learn more read Vogue‘s article, “Eddie Borgo Introduces His Fine-Jewelry Line for Tiffany & Co.” by Emma Elwick-Bates. This article is also featured on Vogue’s latest issue too, so make sure you grab your coffee today and get ready for your early Christmas shopping!
However, if you are not familiar with Borgo, he is known for his sleek, modern architectural jewelry pieces to his classic handbags. Some of you will know him from his summer 2015 Target collaboration or recognize his pieces worn by the iconic angels during the previous Victoria Secret 2014 and 2015 Fashion Shows.
Speaking of Target collaborations, Business of Fashion‘s Lauren Sherman exclusively announced the Target x Victoria Beckham collaboration out April 9, 2017, online and in-stores. This is another exciting collaboration because it will feature apparel and accessories for women and children. Remember, this will be a limited-edition collection, so make sure to add this to your calendar too!
Excitement is definitely in the air and let the collaborations keep coming!
Time is ticking and Kenzo x H&M will be here soon, Thursday, Nov. 3 and the its next collaboration is well announced by Vogue.com. Surprise! H&M will be having a new art collaboration with American artist, Alex Katz and it will come out Dec. 1. His work will be feature into men, women and home collections.
I think this is a great idea for H&M to continue to collab with artists because it will allow art fans and fashionistas a chance to own great works. I cannot wait to see which type of artworks he will be using for each of these collections. Maybe, his iconic painting, “The Red Smile” (1927) will be used on a sweatshirt or on a shirt. We shall wait an see this great fashion and art collaboration soon!
Have you ever wondered what Impressionist artist, Claude Monet ever cooked? Well now we do!
Earlier today, I was reading Vogue.com and came across its food article, “3 Stunning French Recipes Cloaude Monet Would Cook at Home in Giverny” by Laird Borrelli-Persson. In the article, there are three recipes to try at home and features the new cook book, The Monet Cookbook: Recipes From Giverny, which includes some of the artist’s work as well. It is written by Florence Genter and costs $35.
Not bad, I would say for any foodie or art lover!
I am currently back in the beautiful state of New York for school again. Yes, time flies and moving on to year three. Insane!
Whenever I am back in the Big Apple, I always constantly look and read what is going on in the city. Luckily, thanks to Vogue.com, there is a New York City Guide and it is perfection!
You can narrow your searches on the page. There are many sections to choose from of what you want to do in the city. For example, under the city you have selected, there are two search engines after and the viewer can choose activities to where to go vintage shopping. Plus, the user can decide their favourite curator as their guide.
Hopefully this weekend I will have the chance to go back to the city. I am mostly going to use the guide for activities and dining. So, we shall see how it goes!
However, I still need to visit the exhibition, China: Through The Looking Glass and the it closes Monday, September 7.
I was so happy that The Metropolitan Museum of Art extended the fashion exhibition due to popular demand.
Do not forget to keep an eye out for my blog post on the exhibition this weekend!
The greatest night in the fashion industry was on May 4, 2015 and all of the important names in fashion came to the Met Gala. Social media was on full blast with non-stop updates of the latest fashion from the Gala.
Last night, I could not stop refreshing http://vogue.com for more updates of what everyone was wearing at the Met Gala. The top three looks I adored were from Cher, Shu Pei Qui and Bee Shaffer.
Singer, Cher was in Marc Jacobs and I cannot believe she a year over 60! She does not look a day old at all and I really want to know what her beauty secrets are. The dress that Cher was wearing a fitted multicolored shimmering dress and it fit her like a glove.
Chinese model, Shu Pei Qin and she wore Tommy Hilfiger. The plunging red gown had silver detail on the sleeves and she looked divine. Also, the front part of her dress that is plunging and I believe the fabric is velvet as well.
Anna Wintour’s daughter, Bee Shaffer was dressed in Alexander McQueen. The gown embodies the Chinese theme and had cherry blossoms all over the deep red gown. The long train accented the dress that showed tremendous detail.
The three fashionistas dominated the red carpet at the Met Gala this year and I cannot wait to see the exhibition at the Met Museum.
The Met Museum opens the exhibition, “China: Through the Looking Glass” this Thursday, May 7, 2015, to the public.
